Dorothy L. Bogan

DIAMOND—Dorothy L. Bogan, 76, of Diamond, and formerly of Wilmington and South Chicago Heights, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at her home.
Born Nov. 29, 1942 in Chicago, Dorothy Louise was a daughter of Peter and Dorothy (Suprenant) Messlein. She was raised in Oak Lawn and graduated from Oak Lawn High School. Dorothy was an exceptional and detailed bookkeeper, who worked in medical billing and collections until her retirement.
She was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where she served on the Council of Catholic Women and was a Eucharistic Minister. Prior to moving to Wilmington she belonged to St. Ann Parish in Chicago Heights and St. Liborius Parish in Steger. Dorothy was past president of the South Chicago Heights Kiwanis, was active with the PTA when her children were in school and served as a trustee on the Steger/South Chicago Heights Library Board.
Dorothy was an avid reader, belonged to several book clubs, and enjoyed being a proof reader for her lifelong friend and author, Pat Camalliere.
Survivors include her children: William Naughton, of Diamond; Kathleen (Michael) Trudelle, of Sauk Village; Stephen (Minta) Naughton, of Cedar Lake, IN and Kristin (Scott) Wexell, of Coal City; seven grandchildren: William Naughton, Michael Naughton, Shannon Wexell, Sadie Naughton, Van Naughton, Amy Medina and Michael Davies; one brother, Joseph (Dolores) Messlein, of North Riverside and one sister-in-law, Lori Gremaud, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Robert Bogan on Dec. 23, 2000 and one brother, Peter Messlein.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 S. Kankakee St. in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Sebastian Gargol officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington.
Pallbearers will be: William Naughton, Michael Naughton, Van Naughton, Trey Tafoya, Scott Wexell and Michael Trudelle.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy’s memory to the St. Rose C.C.W., 603 S. Main St., Wilmington, IL 60481.
