Market Fresh on Broadway open for the season

LINDA SULA, of Goose Lake, stopped by the first farmers market of the season to pickup some handcrafted items from Apisera Craftworks. The next market is set for Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Campbell Memorial Park.

Locally grown produce, jams, sauces, gourmet popcorn and handcrafted gifts are just a few of the items available at Coal City’s farmers market—Market Fresh on Broadway.
The first weekend market of the season is set for Saturday and organizers have scheduled a day of activities to be highlighted by the goods available from 10 vendors.
Hosted by the village of Coal City and Coal City Park Board, Market Fresh on Broadway will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Campbell Memorial Park, 580 S. Broadway.
Vendors scheduled to take part include:
• Perkins Farm — Variety of garden grown vegetables.
• Twin Oak Farm — Produce including potatoes and melons, as well as birdhouses.
• Wills Family Farm — Sweet corn. 
• Albo Acres — Alpaca fiber, yarn, figures, hats, gloves, socks, shoe inserts, dryer balls, blankets, purses, sweaters, and more.
• Store House Farm — Mushrooms, salad mix, peppers and fresh cut flowers.
• Two Crafty Ladies — Key fobs, rice bags, bears, bows and more.
• Sunshine Garden Center — Plants, cut flowers and locally produced items.
• Custom Lasercrafting — Custom laser etched glass block, tumblers and wood items.
• Apisera Craftworks — Orgaically grown vegetables, herbs, homemade pickles, jams and sauces, live plants and handmade household items and jewelry.
• Candy and Corn — Sno cones, smoothies, cotton candy, gourmet and buttered popocorn and a variety of candy.
Events and entertainment will include a sneak peak at Small Town Theatrics production of “Hairspray” at 10 a.m. and fitness class presented by Morris YMCA at 11 a.m.
Additional market days are Saturday, Aug. 3 and 17, Saturday Sept. 7 and 21 and Thursday, Aug. 8.
