Samantha Marie Brassard, 34, of South Wilmington, Illinois, and formerly of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. In her final act of generosity, Samantha gave the gift of life as an organ donor.

ESSEX—Debbie Horn, 65, of Essex, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 9, 2025 surrounded by her siblings after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Joliet, to Arthur and Marlene (Armstrong) Horn. Debbie graduated from Reddick High School. Following high school, she attended Illinois State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She was a teacher in Virginia, IL and a teacher's aid in Custer Park. Debbie retired from USPS in 2018 after 24 years of service. Member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bonfield.

ROSELLE, IL—Frederick Sirovy, 87, of Roselle, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 at the ARC of Dwight.
Born Nov. 22, 1937 in Chicago, Frederick Ray was a son of George Sr. and Juanita (Collins) Sirovy. He grew up in Chicago and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his service, he pursued a career as a machinist, a profession that perfectly suited his skillful hands and meticulous nature. Fred was a natural tinkerer, always finding joy in fixing, creating, and improving whatever he touched.

ELWOOD—William E. McCarthy, 78, of Elwood, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL.
Born on March 2, 1946, in Joliet, William was the beloved son of Edward and Virginia (Randolph) McCarthy. He was raised in Joliet, where he attended Joliet Township High School, graduating with the class of 1964. He continued his education at Joliet Junior College, earning an Associate’s Degree.

WILMINGTON—N.C. Bud Lombardi, 86, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at his home.
Born on Feb. 10, 1938, in Chicago, Bud was a son of Nicholas Dominic and Caroline Mae (Kohlstedt) Lombardi. Raised on the south side of Chicago, Bud graduated from De La Salle High School and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army Reserves. In 1958, he moved to Wilmington when his family purchased the local automobile dealership, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to his community.

MISSOURI—Rosa Lee Koslowski, daughter of Alvin and Esther (nee Schumacher) Zinnel, was born Jan. 4, 1943 in Algona, IA. She departed this life on Dec. 31, 2024 at Cedarhurst Memory Care Facility in Lebanon, MO, at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

WILMINGTON—Clay Robert Crichton, 70, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2024, after a valiant, hard-fought battle with cancer. His fight solidified the toughness he carried throughout his life-though for anyone who knew him, that was never in doubt.
Clay was born March 24, 1954 and was raised in Wilmington, Clay spent over 20 years living in Colorado before retiring from SunCor Energy and returning to his hometown.
