Plunging for a great cause

IT HELPS TO scream before plunging into 40-degree water. Just ask members of team Cold Pizza which included several Coal City School District faculty and staff. Running for the water on Saturday at the Braidwood Rec Club are Cold Pizza plungers (from left) Samantha Treamer, Kassie Marsala, Sonja Minnick and Sara Bohac. Cold Pizza team raised over $4,125 for Special Olympics of Illinois.

Over $135,000 was raised during the annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics of Illinois on Saturday when 500 plungers took a dive into the lake at Braidwood Rec Club.
This is the third straight year the Braidwood club offered it's beach for plungers and despite the bone-chilling water, everyone seemed to have fun.
